This, then, is the fundamental aim of Britain: to side with the weak in Europe against the strong – and steal as many overseas possessions as possible while doing it!Ĭapture and hold 25 regions by the end of the year 1750, including the regions shown. A nation that can unite the resources of Europe will surely crush the dream of Albion. They are partly right, but only as long as there is no centralised Continental power. The English and Scots like to think that they can sleep safe, that no foreign invader or tyranny need worry them. With Dutchman William III on the British throne, there is ambivalence in the traditional rivalry with the Netherlands! The English Channel keeps the French at bay and, to a lesser extent, the Dutch. Trade taxes pay for the navy the navy allows unhindered trade. Despite – or perhaps because of – this turbulent history, Britain is an engine driving the scientific and cultural advancement of northern Europe: turmoil fuels creativity.Īs an island nation, Britons have always looked to, as Shakespeare puts it:īritain’s strength lies at sea, but in trade and colonisation as much as naval power. Nonetheless, the exiled James Stuart has sympathisers, the Jacobites, throughout Britain. A short, vicious war in Ireland put paid to any chance of a Catholic Stuart restoration. Less than 15 years ago, the hated Catholic James II was forced into exile in the Glorious Revolution and a Protestant monarchy restored. The new nation has been through a century of unparalleled turbulence: an unwelcome joining of Scotland and England religious strife civil wars an executed king military dictatorship a populist monarch restored and the overthrow of a second king. Ceylon can send ships to Madagascar in one turn, East Indies in one turn, and is an excellent staging ground to conquer India.Great Britain is not a natural creation, but the marriage of separate kingdoms and peoples. ![]() I love Benghal too, but it comes second to Ceylon. Denmark the region is a pretty good choke point. Denmark the country dies all the time like you described. With a good fleet you can prevent any army crossing or any navy coming. I know Denmark always gets annihilated, but that's Denmark. Originally posted by Nightknight:Denmark takes the huge number of territories in north-central Europe and protects them easily, so I like that (and the fact its economic region is protected by water and a short area with a river). Generally i just love it and the port is right next to the city so i can easily move any infantry in to retake the port if its taken by a navy. The game has been polished and deepened, and now you can direct your ships during naval battles (although this is still a bit clunky), as well as hundreds of individual troops in land battle. The only time Denmark havnt been anihilated was when i stepped in and helped them.īut my favourite region would have to be Benghal in eastern india, great place to start a domination of india from with a port, a large city and some fairly descent resources. 'Empire: Total War' sees the action moved to the gunpowder age and opens the map up to include America and India as well as Europe. I always feel like Lombardy should have something more like a farm or another village and the lack of trade with the Plains Indians is pretty annoying.įor starters do you mean Sweden not Denmark? Because in every game ive played Sweden takes Norway and Denmark from Denmark leaving them with only Iceland which half the time just becomes a Rebel region. I don't know, if you dispise a certain region or feels it's missing something, you could put that too.Įngland is an awesome region: 5 ports, 3 farms, a mine, 6 villages, and it's an island so easy to defend.
